WHAT IS BRONCHOSCOPY?

Bronchoscopy is a type of endoscopy method used to examine the respiratory tracts and lungs after the larynx, to perform a number of procedures, interventions for diagnosis and treatment.

Bronchoscopy is performed primarily for two purposes. The first one is diagnostic bronchoscopy and the second one is therapeutic bronchoscopy. Sometimes, during the bronchoscopy performed for diagnostic purposes, small treatment procedures can be performed, or sometimes diagnostic samples may be taken during bronchoscopy. Bronchoscopy is performed mainly for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases related to the airways and lungs. Bronchoscopy is performed in the presence of respiratory symptoms such as chronic cough, bloody sputum, hoarseness, which cannot be explained by other diagnostic methods.
